Premium Flagship Update
April arrived the way a lot of things arrive in markets: sideways, then all at once.
What looked, in January, like a reasonable if complicated year, has turned into something considerably more interesting. The Middle East is on fire, tariffs are embedded in the price of everything, the Federal Reserve is frozen in place, and the bond market is doing its best impersonation of a patient waiting for a diagnosis.
Through all of it, income investors with the right positions have collected their checks on schedule and watched the volatility with the detached interest of a man watching the weather from inside a warm building.
That is, more or less, what the Flagship Report’s Alternative Income Portfolio is designed to do. We do not swing for the fences. We do not chase price momentum in asset classes that have already done the heavy lifting. We build portfolios around durable income streams, structural scarcity, and the occasional situation where the market has mispriced risk so badly that the margin of safety becomes embarrassingly wide.
In April 2026, those situations are not hard to find. The harder part is having the patience to sit with them.
This month, we review the full landscape: the economy, equities, fixed income, energy, commercial real estate debt, residential mortgages, closed-end funds, infrastructure bonds, New York City office income properties, sovereign fixed income in Asia, and the energy royalty and pipeline complex.
There is a lot to cover, and the month has given us a great deal of material to work with.
This is the part that matters.
